MCB Driver’s Education Video
This short film is designed to encourage teenaged drivers to take pride in Memphis, as well as to reflect upon some of the new responsibilities they face as motorists. The film points out both the esthetic and legal consequences of littering; explaining that tickets resulting in serious fines and even jail sentences can be meted out for littering, and challenging young drivers to help keep their community clean and attractive.
The film is distributed to all City School Driver’s Ed classes; DVD’s may also be purchased by or loaned to interested groups and individuals by contacting City Beautiful at 522-1135.
Interactive Classroom Series
MCB stages entertaining and engaging interactive presentations designed to help young students better understand litter prevention, waste reduction, and recycling: The Wartville Wizard for grades K-3, and Recycle Relay for grades 4-5.
These events provide a valuable adjunct to refresh and reinforce the lessons of our Waste in Place Curriculum; teachers interested in making these learning experiences available in their classroom may contact City Beautiful at 522-1135.
Grades 9 – 12
Memphis City Beautiful offers a wide range of Service Learning projects. We can help teachers and students develop projects to fit their specific needs and interests. Students are encouraged to organize clean ups either in their community or at school; they can participate with Memphis City Beautiful in neighborhood clean ups and beautification projects or even start a recycling program of electronics at their school.
Other opportunities include everything from Arbor Day and Earth Day celebrations to working in a community garden.
Memphis City Beautiful is proud to participate in the Memphis City Schools eighth grade Capstone Service Learning Project and to offer our many projects to all high school students for civic service.
